Foods That Are Ruining Your Healthy Diet

We all know the benefits of eating healthy. It prevents health conditions and preserves your waistline (and makes you feel better and happier, too). Yet even with your healthy diet, you may be wrecking your diet with “sneaky” foods that you thought were healthy, but aren’t great for your body. I know people who sit beside a computer and business through UFX Markets Trading, who just don’t care about their diet. Here are some of those foods that you need to watch out for.

  1. Diet sodas. Why don’t you just get water, fresh juice with antioxidants (cranberry, pomegranate, etc.), or low-fat milk? If you still crave that diet soda, don’t go overboard on your other meal selections. Never choose to reward yourself by getting something less healthy– it defeats the purpose.
  2. Low-fat yogurt. Yogurt is very healthy, no doubt about it. Watch your sugar content, though: most yogurt brands load their fruit yogurt with sweeteners. Opt for unflavored nonfat yogurt. If you crave that flavor, add fresh fruit or lightly sweeten it yourself.
  3. Muffins. Muffins are a dense, incredibly sweet breakfast food. It’s packed full of white flour and sugar. That’s not really a very healthy breakfast. Look for low-calorie offerings at your local supermarket if you’re craving some muffin madness in the morning. Also, avoid the jumbo muffins at all costs.
  4. Iced tea. Iced tea is a proven supplier of antioxidants, which are definitely healthy. Sorry, Southern states: your sweet tea is downright toxic in its sugar content. Go with unsweetened tea and flavor it with fresh fruits like lemon, mango, peaches, or raspberries. You may find you much prefer it to pre-sweetened tea.
  5. Low-fat anything. When something is “light” or “low fat,” people tend to eat more of it. This cancels out precisely the purpose of dieting. Eat less, exercise more. Don’t eat more of a “diet-friendly” food. Remember, much of the dieting process is mental.
  6. Iceberg lettuce. This leafy green has little to no nutritional benefit and most people drown it in dressings. Try a fresh spinach salad instead: spinach has a great flavor and is rich in iron.
  7. Microwave popcorn. Buy unseasoned popcorn and season it with something from your spice cabinet instead, like rosemary or paprika.
